Privacy Policy

Last Updated: September 2026 • Data Controller: Ethan Crespo Pueyo

At MediaNote, accessible via our official Android application and website at https://www.medianote-web.com, the privacy and security of our users are of paramount importance. This document details what information we collect, how it is handled, and the choices available to you in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and Google Play Developer Policies.

1. Information We Collect

MediaNote is built to provide multimedia note-taking with maximum sovereignty and privacy. The categories of information processed include:

  • Account Credentials: When you register or sign in with Google, we collect your email address, display name, and avatar image to authenticate your session and sync notes across devices.
  • Note Content: Rich text notes, interactive task checklists, audio voice recordings, captured photographs, video clips, and geographical map pins. Your content is stored locally on your device in a secure database and, upon synchronization, backed up directly to your personal Google Drive account or secure MediaNote endpoints.
  • Diagnostics & Log Data: In the rare event of an application crash, anonymous crash logs and diagnostic statistics (device model, Android OS version, timestamp) are gathered through specialized crash reporters to resolve bugs promptly.

2. Android Device Permissions Requested

MediaNote requests only permissions strictly necessary for user-initiated multimedia functionality, prompted on-demand:

  • Camera: To take photos or record videos directly inside a note when you tap the camera button.
  • Microphone: To record audio voice memos directly within your notes.
  • Precise / Coarse Location (GPS): To place interactive Google Maps markers and search nearby points of interest for your notes.
  • Storage / Media Access: To attach existing images, videos, or audio files from your gallery.

3. Third-Party Service Providers

We partner with reputable third-party services to deliver reliable and secure operations. Each maintains their own privacy practices:

  • Google Play Services: Authentication, core system APIs, and app distribution.
  • Google Drive API: Direct cloud backup of photos, audio recordings, and videos onto the user's personal Google Drive account.
  • Google AdMob: Advertising platform delivering ads on public community notes and map views.
  • Firebase Crashlytics & Analytics: Anonymous performance analytics and crash diagnostics.
  • Google Maps Platform: Interactive map views and location search.

4. Password Protection & Data Security

We employ robust security controls. MediaNote allows you to protect entire folders and individual notes with custom passwords or PINs. This prevents anyone holding your unlocked device from viewing confidential notes without your authorization.

5. User Rights & Account Deletion

You have the fundamental right to access, rectify, or delete your personal data at any time:

  • Account Deletion: You can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data by visiting our Delete Account Page.
  • Google Drive Files: You can independently delete the MediaNote folder from your Google Drive or revoke application access under your Google Account Security settings.

6. Children's Privacy

MediaNote does not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal details, we will promptly delete such records from our servers.
